Tim Gunn speaks out for plus size fashion

Tim Gunn The Project Runway Style Guru who is the former head of design at Parson's school of design,  has taken a  rare stance and siding with the plus community.

In an interview with Marie Claire Tim Gunn said: "Have you seen most of the plus-size sections out there? It's horrifying. Whoever's designing for plus-size doesn't get it. The entire garment needs to be reconceived. You can't just take a size 8 and make it larger."

It's so refreshing to see someone with so much clout, and such a  respected opinion speak out against what's happening in the fashion industry.

However, I must confess that I don't feel at much of a loss because I know amazing plus size designers but they don't get as much respect as they deserve. I'm hoping that this will change.

  1. You're so right, plus size designers need to get more props. It's easy to make a size 0-8 dress. But making clothes to fit real curves? That takes skill! Much luv to my plus size sistas!

  2. I agree Desiree! It takes a lot of talent to design for curves and to have the garments look flattering on different body types.
