Jill Scott Strikes back at Nikki Minaj Fans via twitter

Jill Scott made a comment about Nikki Minaj's Grammy  performance and all of Nikki fans came out swinging. Jill definitely held her own and struck back. Check it out.

I'm kind of glad that Jill struck back. She didn't disrespect Nikki Minaj at all and the little crazies just came out of no where. Good thing that artists aren't judged by their fanbase.

Full Figured Fashion at the Academy Awards

I always love seeing Full Figured women on the red carpet but there were some definite hits and misses

Octavia Spencer's dress was just okay in my opinion. It's beaded and tailored but it's really nothing special. I would love to see her just completely glam it up at some point. She also took best supporting actress!

Actress Melissa McCarthy arrives at the 84th Annual Academy Awards held at the Hollywood & Highland Center on February 26, 2012 in Hollywood, California.
Melissa McCarthy was very pretty in this frock. I do feel as if she was hiding behind a lot of fabric but nevertheless. She does look good.
Sherri Shepherd looks absolutely stunning in this blue creation. I was a big fan of this look for her.
So what do you think?

Trey Songz in Concert

OK so I know I'm a few days late but its been a busy weekend. The Trey Songz- Anticipation 2our concert that was in Cincinnati, was beyond amazing. I have never been to a concert before. I have been out to comedy shows and other events but never a music concert. First let me say the Aronoff Center was the perfect place for a concert, every seat is a good seat, and the sound in the center is great. Big Sean is touring with trey and I wasn't a big fan of his before but I am now. He gave a great performance definately giving the ladies what we were looking for. Plenty of abs showing and grinding. Then came Trey..looking casket sharp in his tux jacket, sun glasses and fresh fade. What I loved most was that he really sang! Most artists put so much effort in the dancing they are lip syncing the majority of the show or winded halfway through the song. Trey SANG you hear me? No back ground tracks he sang! It was an over all great show yes he took his shirt off and all his sweaty, glistening abs were showing and it was heaven. I will be in attendance the next time he comes to the nasty Nati, first row! Below are pics and up top is a video. Enjoy, and if you can still get tickets when he comes to your city, I suggest you do so, its worth it!

I got so caught up in Trey I forgot to tell you what I wore! So my sister actually found these shoes and she hadnt even worn them yet but I begged her to let me break them in. Purple is my favorite color and  the peacock design on these was so gorgeous I had to rock em! I wore these with a pair of black trouser pants from Torrids the long leg and flair made me look taller and leaner. I also have a purple shirt that I got from Walmart a long time ago but its a great fit and its purple so thats enough for me lol

this is trey and big sean doing a remix together.
eventually the shirt came off..it was sexy either way

Adele: Vogue's Outtake photos

Adele is so stunning in these photos. I had to share them.

Yes, she's photoshopped but so is everyone in fashion magazines. I'm glad to see Adele showing off her voluptuous curves with pride. Stunning.

Entertainment in Cincinnati

There are a lot of great events going on in the Cincinnati area. A lot of celebs will be in town performing for Valentines day. If your in the area you still have time to get your tickets.

You cant think of love songs without mentioning the likes of Jagged Edge. They will be performing tonight, live at Celebrities located at 7617 Reading Rd Cincinnati, OH for the Red and Black Affair starting at 9. Also if you skip on over to Nap town (Indianapolis IN) on Feb 12 they are performing with Avant and Case that will be a great show.

Likewise New Edition will also be in town. They will be performing on Valentines Day at the US Bank Arena. Their special guests include El Debarge and KC & JoJo, I know a few people who have tickets to this show and I'm sure they will love it.

Finally..the one I cant wait for..the one I'm still looking for an outfit for..Trey Songz..Mr Steal Yo Girl himself will be at the Aronoff Center (Proctor and Gamble Hall) on Feb 23rd on his Anticipation 2our. I already got my tickets on the floor so hopefully I can get some great pictures for you guys. Big Sean is on the road with him, Ne Yo is also on one of his dates-sadly not the one in Cincinnati, however, I'm sure I will love it either way.

Next month is looking up on the entertainment side as well, Jermaine Dupri is scheduled to come through the nati, as well as Jezzy, and Mike Epps. ( I saw Mike Epps last year when he came to Cincinnati and I was not impressed. I had heard all his jokes before. So I think I will hold off on him this year and maybe catch Kevin Hart the next time he comes through.)

Ricki Lake is back

The curvy and fabulous Ricki Lake will be returning to television. "The Ricki Lake Show" will be coming back to tv in September 2012 . But the Dancing With The Stars runner up has stated that this show will be much different from her previous show.  This show will focus on  “elevated content for women 25-54″.

According to 20th Century, the "show will present topical conversation reflecting Ricki's own personal journey and recent life experiences. As her fans have grown up with Ricki, a combination of relevant themes personal to the host and her audience including family, marriage, parenting, divorce, weight loss and overall well-being are being explored for the program."

Many think that she can fill the void left by Oprah, and I think that if anyone can fill this spot, Ricki can do it. We already love her and she's built an excellent rapport with the TV community. I'll definitely be tuning in.

Full figured diva Octavia Spencer wins Golden Globe

What can I say? I love to see curvy women thriving in the media. Octavia Spencer won the Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her role in "The Help".

Octavia  Tweeted that she landed congratulatory kissed from George Clooney, Bradley Cooper, Michael Fassbender, Idris Elba, director Steven Speilberg and also developed a girl crush on fellow Globe nominee Charlie Theron.

This is going to open up so many doors for the 41, year old actress and I'm looking forward to seeing more of her work.

Why I Heart Raven Symone

In 2011, weight loss and healthier living was a movement among full figured celebrities. The gorgeous Jennifer Hudson, the fabulous Mo’Nique, the soul-stirring Jill Scott, and even American Idol alum, Ruben Studdard traded in their 3X blouses for slimmer bodies and chicer wardrobes.

Rich socialite and child actress Raven Symoné, was no exception. The famous Cosby Show star did not receive an endorsement deal from Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, or any of the other popular loss systems; but with the assistance of a personal trainer and a nutritious diet, Symoné dropped several dress sizes and pounds. She proudly displayed her thinner figure on red carpets and in her new ABC Family series, “State of Georgia.”

Despite the fact that bloggers (I’m guilty), news sources, and the paparazzi made her stunning new figure front page news, Symoné refused to allow her weight loss to define her. She has not acknowledged how much weight she has lost and has not missed a beat – Symoné is as fabulous, vibrant, brilliant, and amazing as she had been before her scale numbers decreased.

That is the reason that we should all adore Miss Symoné – like I do. No full figured woman should be limited based on her weight. Look at Raven. She exploded onto our television screens and into our hearts as the adorable Olivia, Denise Huxtable’s step-daughter and she has been on the express train to success since the 90’s.

With “That’s So Raven,” which ran from 2003 until 2007, she cemented her position in television history with the highest-rated series in the history of the network. “That’s So Raven" was the first series to produce a successful spinoff, "Cory in the House." If that weren't enough, it was the first original sitcom on the network to secure more than three-million viewers and the first Disney Channel original series to produce 100 episodes. Plus, it is one of only three Disney Channel original series where the lead and most of the supporting characters are African-American or of other minority backgrounds.

This amazing series, which focused on Raven as a teenager with psychic abilities, also cast her into the spotlight as a media mogul – she served as a producer on the show as well. Never allowing her size to be a deterrent, Raven has solidified her position as one of the most elite Hollywood power players under 30. I have the strange feeling that she's just getting started.

So, in 2012, live as Raven has done from the beginning – live, in color, and on the world’s stage.

Plus blogger Tanesha Awasthi graces billboard in Times Square

Popular plus blogger/beauty Tanesha Awasthi of Girl With Curves  is on a billboard in Times Square for Forever 21. This is absolutely amazing and I am so happy for her! The industry is really coming full circle, not only in terms of inclusion of Plus women but also respecting other forms of media.

I caught up with Tanesha regarding this milestone and she states "It's an amazing feeling see myself on a Billboard in Times Square.  Blogging means so much to me, because of what it stands f

Sparkle & Shineor. My major purpose for blogging, is to encourage curvy girls of every size, to embrace their natural, beautiful bodies and feel confident in their clothes. I truly believe that when you're confident in your appearance, your beauty and confidence shines from within.

I'm extremely thankful and flattered that a major retailer like Forever 21 saw something in me and my blog. This is a major accomplishment not only for me personally, but for my fellow curvy girls around the globe. This just proves that there's more than enough room for fuller figures in the mainstream fashion industry.

Affordable, fashion-forward clothing isn't something I take for granted, so I'm ecstatic to have the support of a company like Forver 21. They understand the importance of dressing girls and women of all shapes and sizes, and I'm proud to be a loyal customer.   My hope is that more retailers and designers follow suit, by extending their lines to include clothing for the average (aka plus size) consumer"

Congratulations Tanesha and we look forward to your continued success. You can connect with her through her blog  http://GirlWithCurves.tumblr.com. and facebook  https://www.facebook.com/GirlWithCurves

Tim Gunn speaks out for plus size fashion

Tim Gunn The Project Runway Style Guru who is the former head of design at Parson's school of design,  has taken a  rare stance and siding with the plus community.

In an interview with Marie Claire Tim Gunn said: "Have you seen most of the plus-size sections out there? It's horrifying. Whoever's designing for plus-size doesn't get it. The entire garment needs to be reconceived. You can't just take a size 8 and make it larger."

It's so refreshing to see someone with so much clout, and such a  respected opinion speak out against what's happening in the fashion industry.

However, I must confess that I don't feel at much of a loss because I know amazing plus size designers but they don't get as much respect as they deserve. I'm hoping that this will change.

BBW Art by JNESS

About 6 months ago, I came across an amazing artist that creates portraits of BBW women. I love his work because he captures the beauty and curves of Full Figured Women. JNESS has a background in graffiti believes that oddity in design, has merit. Time spent as a Graphic Designer and an Illustrator has taught him that clutter doesn't work. This is the reason for his current approach."The human eye remains adolescent, a creation must hold the viewer's hand and walk them through the communication process"

Take a look at some of his work and consider allowing him to transform some of your photos. He isn't limited to just this type of art, he does web page design, logos, and other graphic work as well.  Check out his website BBW ART By JNESS.

It's been a year since Evolve first began and it has been an absolute whirlwind. Evolve stays on top of trends, and keeps it's finger on the pulse of the full figured community not just in the UK but universally.

You can find amazing fashion spreads that feature the work of Velvet d'Amour, great beauty shots, and Christmas collections. Some of the features include Toccara, Anna Sholtz, Velvet, Evan's,, and much more.

This issue is jammed packed with amazing content. I can't wait to fully sit down and read it page by page.
