MAVEN Presents:The Diva Series - "Angels"

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending the Maven Presents: The Diva Series- "Angels". I was there to support the Thyck Troupe's founder and creative director Tressa Thomas. I'm a part of the Thyck Troupe of Chicago and I'm so proud to be in such a wonderful organization that develops, and fosters artistic talent within full figured women; but I will write about that more in depth later.

This event took place at the JBar in downtown Chicago and was a very classy and upscale effect. I met a lot of phenomenal women here and the networking was great.

Nikeya Young (Plus Model, Thyck Troupe Member, and Chicago Fashion Examiner) Tressa Thomas (Honoree of the night, and Thyck Troupe of Chicago Founder,  and Je Tuan Lavyonne

Brigette Ducre (Thyck Troupe Member), Je Tuan Lavyonne, and Karen London (Thyck Troupe Member and jazz vocalist)

Sarah Vargo (Maven CEO) and Je Tuan Lavyonne

Me!
I wore a simple black dress that came to mid thigh, with a red blazer (even though it looks pink in most of the photos), textured leggings, and black ankle boots. I tend to like to keep my outfits a little funky (it suits my personality).

I had a wonderful time at this event and I look forward to networking with some amazing people in the future.

The Beau Ideal Larger Than Life Fashion Show

I recently had the pleasure of attending the Beau Ideal: Larger Than Life Fashion Show, here in Chicago, Illinois. The Beau Ideal Team did a fabulous job with bringing some of the best designers that Chicago has to offer. Today I’m focusing on the two Plus designers in the show. They both brought a different flair for those fashionista’s that like to look great and unique. The first is Kiyoko Linden by Shemeka Buckner.

Kiyoko Linden says “We are interested in NOT just making full-figured look confident, but feeling confident too!”
Shemeka uses vibrant colors and bold patterned fabrics in her designs. She wants her clients to feel unique while making a statement. Shemeka’s Kiyoko Linden line definitely made a huge statement on that runway. Check it out below!:

You can contact Kiyoko Linden at sbuckner@kiyokolinden.com

The Second line is Deztinni by Ashanti-Nichole  says “We are the new world embrace your curves and know that GOD has made you a one of kind so be happy and enjoy your curves.” Ashanti uses jean materials as her primary esthetic and takes them to a whole new level that’s inspired by the 70’s. I felt like I couldn’t wait to get “groovy” with Ashanti’s pieces! In fact I wore one of her pieces to the fashion show (photo will be at the bottom of this post”). Take a look at her fabulous line!:

You can contact Deztinni at ashantinichole@gmail.com

I had a wonderful time! Keep your eyes open for these designers ladies and I'm looking forward to bringing you more fashion!
